So you thought that Weddings, Parties, Anything's "Roaring Days" was Mick Thomas's homage to Melbourne? Think again. This album is mostly covers, but you wouldn't know it; Mick's stamp is all over this - and as a two-sided concept album - centred around an inner north tram line, and a further-out rail line - it works well. Also the acoustic version of Cold Chisel's "Forever Now" recorded with friends is a lot of fun.
Favorite track: Regent to Ruthven.

Hey Mick and band. Just got the album City's Calling Me in the mail this evening. It's such a wonderful celebration of living in Melbourne. Great sense of place comes through. The accordion and vocals on Forever Now are divine! The whole album is a great celebration of what I think many of us discovered during COVID lockdown, our own suburb and every other thing we took for granted about living here in Melbourne. This record is so great . Mick Thomas at his best. Something old, something new, something borrowed something blue. His Barry Humphries cover is truly inspired. The old always sounds new and the new is always familiar

As a Melbournian in exile in Hobart Town it's wonderful to hear a collection of songs that take me home. As I listened I could feel the grit from the tram brakes getting into my eyes, Thanks, a great collection of songs about Melbourne.

A really nice album. I love Barry H's poem put to music. But Mick, as a fellow saints tragic myself I used to love that line in Under the Clocks - you know the one! - couldn't you bring yourself to sing it anymore?
